Ciudad Banesco is the seat of VIMUN 2005
The objective of VIMUN 2005 is to give the students the opportunity of developing and apply the necessary knowledge like self-management, speech ability and trust in themselves, so they can become leaders of the country.
Caracas.- The Venezuelan International Model United Nations, VIMUN 2005, makes its traditional yearly encounter in the installations of Ciudad Banesco and with the sponsorship of an important number of Venezuelan companies, including Banesco Banco Universal. It is a profitless student’s meeting, which lasts three days, which simulate the work of the different committees of the United Nations.
The event, which started on April 29 and will end on Sunday May 1st, has the participation of 400 students. The objective of VIMUN 2005 is to give these young people the opportunity to develop and apply the necessary knowledge, like self-management, speech ability and trust in themselves, to become leaders of the country.
VIMUN was born in 1998 after a group of Venezuelan students did a student Exchange in Mexico to represent Venezuela in MEXMUN (Mexico Model United Nations), model headed by the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey- Campus Ciudad de México (ITESM).
After a period of preparation and two years planning, the first edition of the Venezuelan Intenational Model United Nations was carried out.
The organizing committee of VIMUN 2005 is formed by a group of high school students of the Colegio Santiago de León de Caracas, with the support and coordination of the social sciences coordination.
In the inaugural act were Juan Carlos Escotet, president of Banesco; Wallis de Gómez, principal of the Colegio Santiago de León de Caracas; David Mc Lachlan-Karr, resident representative of the United Nations and Kiara Fior, General Secretary of VIMUN 2005.
