Banesco Banco Universal, leaded by the Venezuelan businessman Juan Carlos Escotet, presented the third edition of its digital mobile photography contest. Through the Instagram account of the bank and with the #RetratosDeVenezuela hashtag, the financial institution recognizes different possibilities of portraiture in digital format. Bs. 540,000 in cash will be distributed and the best images will be published in a digital book.

Portrait is one of the oldest types of photography. Today, thanks to social networks, our time has made of portrait a favorite practice of the current picture, and one of the most celebrated ways of the image by all users of mobile communications.

According to the distinguished Mariela Colmenares, Executive vice-president of Banesco, with the #RetratosdeVenezuela contest, the bank wants its followers in social networks deepen the different characteristics of the portrait as a type of photography. Month after month, renowned photographers-curators accompany a dynamic range of possibilities and themes such as self-portraits, family portrait, pets, senior age, events, personalities, the documentary or set portrait and fashion portraits.

Colmenares also commented that every month the bank will have a special guest to guide the participation of eight dimensions of this type of photography, giving participants the opportunity to investigate different approaches to this interesting practice of contemporary photography.

The #RetratosDeVenezuela Final Competition Jury will be composed by Ricardo Jimenez, Andreina Mujica, Basque Szinetar, and Consuelo Gonzalez Lorena Di Carlo and the prizes will be the following:

  • First place: Bs. 200,000 in TodoTicket card.
  • Second place: Bs. 180,000 in TodoTicket card.
  • Third place: Bs. 160,000 in TodoTicket card.

The theme #RetratosDeVenezuela must be present in a clear and comprehensive photographic composition, regardless of the context in which it is taken. In order to understand the contest conditions, the interested participants can join the Facebook page of Banesco Banco Universal in the #RetratosDeVenezuela Contest app.

The user must tag his/her photo with the hashtags: #RetratosDeVenezuela and #IgersVenezuela. Users can also enter as often as they wish in each month of unlimited number of photos tagged contest.
