Juan Carlos Escotet Rodríguez: Abanca with a New Independent Consultant
The board of Abanca has approved the appointment of Eduardo Eraña as a new independent consultant of the entity. After this new addition, the highest governing body of the bank is composed of nine members, five of whom are under the figure of independent participants. This time, Eduardo Eraña, who is public accountant by the National Autonomous University of Mexico, has been appointed by the council chairman nominating committee. As reported by the institution –Abanca-, Eduardo Eraña has over 40 years of experience in the financial sector leading the charge of expert in payment means. In recent years, Abanca has been particularly active in launching innovative products in this segment, along with new cards and new payment services through mobile banking (Abanca Pay, Abanca Cash, service Samsung Pay).
Until few months ago, Eduardo Eraña was performing as the president of Visa Inc. in Latin America and the Caribbean, assuming the strategy and business projects of the company in 44 countries. Previously, he served as executive vice president at Visa Latin America and the Caribbean and president of Visa Mexico. Finally, during his career in Visa, Eduardo Eraña consolidated his position as a leader in electronic payment systems in Latin America and the Caribbean.
