Participatory Budget 2016 Projects in Baruta



Banesco Banco Universal, which policy of corporate social responsibility base is to promote education, health and financial inclusion of Venezuelans, started the call for the eighth edition of the Participatory Budget in the municipality of Baruta, Miranda state. Non-Governmental Organizations and institutions operating in this region may submit their proposals until 29 April. The bank will distribute Bs. 1 million among the projects elected and that are dedicated to meet the needs of education, health and culture in the area.

The executive vice-president of Communications and CSR Department of the bank, Mariela Colmenares, said that the bank believes in dialogue with its stakeholders. Therefore, since 2008, Banesco incorporated into its actions on corporate social responsibility the figure Participatory Budget. This is why, the bank establishes a dialogue with the communities where it is present. It is important to mention that the institution started with the community of Colinas de Bello Monte, in Caracas, which was extended to the entire Municipality of Baruta, and since 2014, the bank has incorporated the Municipality of Maracaibo and Nueva Esparta state.

Colmenares also expressed that the bank’s goal is to develop social projects submitted by organizations in the area and have an impact on education, health care or infrastructure improvement matter. Among the applicants organizations, the team in charge choose which projects will receive the financing.

In eight years, Banesco has contributed with more than 4.9 million bolivars to develope social projects in the Municipality of Baruta, Maracaibo and Nueva Esparta. There are thousands of people, mostly children, adolescents and elderly population, who have benefited throughout all these years. This year, Banesco is providing Bs. 1 million among those selected to execute projects in each region.

Once the proposals are received, they will be reviewed and those which meet the application guidelines will advance to the next stage. The process of selecting projects to be executed will be held on May 12, 2016 in Ciudad Banesco, Caracas.
