The Creation of IESIDE: The First Galician University-Oriented Company
The vice-president of Abanca, Juan Carlos Escotet Rodriguez, Francisco Botas, CEO of the bank, and Miguel Angel Escotet Alvarez, Chief Executive of CSR and Communication of Abanca and president of Afundación, presented in Santiago the Institute of Company’s Higher Intercontinental Education (IESIDE in Spanish), an institution of higher education company oriented which was born with the purpose of complementing the existing university offer in Galicia and enhance cooperation between businesses and universities in the autonomous region.
The educational model under which IESIDE will operate has innovation as distinctive characteristic, for which will be equipped with a strong technological base, and internationalization. In order to achieve that, the institution will have a multilingual campus and agreements and exchanges with universities in other countries. With regard to its administrative model, IESIDE will focus on flexibility; it will be geared to excellence and have several periods of study throughout the year to provide facilities to students who work or come from exchange programs.
IESIDE will start its activities in September this year with an infrastructure composed of four centers: three for educational use located in Vigo, A Coruña and Pontevedra, and a student residence located in Pontevedra. It will also feature additional support from other bank buildings and from Afundación in different Galician cities. IESIDE will have 14 full-time professors, 52 associate professors, 4 foreign visiting professors and 350 assistant lecturers.
The training catalog of the institution will include:
- Online and combined classroom academic programs
- Courses aimed at corporate enterprises.
The offer scheduled for 2016-2017 academic year includes current official degree programs in Business Administration, the University Masters, 6 dual Bachelor degrees in Business Administration / ADE with the Dublin Business School and a total of 26 own master degrees. The orientation will be mostly dual-study courses of practical exercises.
