Juan Carlos Escotet Rodríguez: Abanca Received the Excelentia Award for the Culture
The President of Abanca, Javier Etcheverría de la Muela, received this last Wednesday, April 13, the Excelentia Award for the Culture for the project Abanca ReSuena in a ceremony held at the National Auditorium of Music in Madrid and culminated with a concert named ‘Special Beethoven’ played by the Santa Cecilia Classical Orchestra and the 140 voices of the Choral Society Excelentia of Madrid, under the baton of renowned director Kynan Johns.
Abanca has been recognized in the Second Edition of the Excelentia Awards in the category of company committed to culture by the project Abanca ReSuena, which is a joint initiative of the Directorate General of Corporate Social Responsibility of Abanca and the Symphony Orchestra of Galicia (OSG in Spanish) since February 2015.
More about the project
The Excelentia Foundation highlighted the support of Abanca resounds project to enable children and young people from different social strata and with disabilities to be integrated into learning to play musical instruments. The initiative was devised by the OSG with the aim of promoting personal growth and development during childhood and youth through group and individual work, favoring the bond between the different sectors of the society. The joint musical practice allows developing social skills to relate and to overcome behavioral problems, while facilitating the development of individual skills.
With this initiative, Abanca’s objective is to respond to a vision of music as a unique tool for encouraging learning in a fun and different way, which also helps to convey fundamental values among children as:
- hard work,
- pursuit of excellence,
- and artistic improvement.
The Excelentia Foundation is a private organization that operates in the field of culture, being leaders in the private promotion of classical music. It was created to help spread the musical and operatic heritage and encourage the creation and representation of the musical arts in all its varieties.
